Palmetto Model - Sapphire Blue

Handcrafted fountain pen made from Sapphire Blue Alumilite accented with solid blue cap threads. The finish has been polished to a high gloss.

The pen is based on 14 mm triple lead threads. The thread length has been calibrated to fully close the cap in just under two turns. When closed, the cap and body have a straight contour through the middle, tapering towards the finials. The finials are flat with a slight round over of the edges. The cap sits approximately 1 mm proud of the barrel. The barrel is 80 mm in length (88 including the cap threads), 16 mm at the widest diameter, tapering to 13 mm at the finial. The cap is 65 mm long, 17 mm in diameter, tapering to 14 mm. The capped length is 146 mm. The pen, converter and nib weigh .91 ounces/26 grams.

The section is 23 mm long, 13 mm at the widest diameter with a 10.75 mm pinch. It houses a Jowo #6 nib and can use a standard international ink cartridge, Schmidt K5 converter or a threaded Schmidt K6 converter.

The interior of the cap is step drilled to three different diameters. This creates a very low volume of air space resulting in more reliable starts on pens that have been sitting for a while. The cap can post very shallow, but it is not designed as a postable cap. Also, it is not designed to be an eye dropper pen, but silicone grease in the section threads will make it work in this manner.

Although the pen is based on a specific design, “The Palmetto,” each item is individually crafted on a wood lathe. There are very slight differences in each pen’s exact measurements since every part is tested and adjusted for a custom fit. However, the pictured pen is the one you will receive.

The pen will ship uninked with a new Jowo #6 gold colored, medium nib (as pictured), a Schmidt K6 threaded converter, a color coordinated felt sleeve and a small sample of ink (colors will vary). All threads will be lubricated with clear silicone grease.
